A Clockwork Orange to be re-released as part of its 40th Anniversary

A Clockwork Orange is a 1971 darkly satirical stylised science fiction film which was produced, directed, and written by Stanley Kubrick. The film is an adaptation of Anthony Burgess‘s 1962 novel of the same name which tells the tale of a delinquent gangleader’s sadistic crimes in which he gets captured and attempted rehabilitation via a controversial psychological conditioning technique. On its release the film was considered too violent and was later withdrawn from release in 1974 by Kubrick himself. It took 27 years from which the film was available to view in the UK and was re-released in cinemas and the first VHS and DVD releases followed soon after Kubrick’s death in 1999. The film was critically well-received and won numerous awards and honours.  To mark its 40th anniversary, a newly restored version will be unveiled at Cannes film festival on the 13th May and also The Clockwork Orange 40th Anniversary Edition will be released on Blu-ray and iTunes, on 23 May as part of the Stanley Kubrick: Limited Edition Collection.
