New road supercar the McLaren MP4-12C debuts this month

The McLaren MP4-12C supercar goes on sale this year and is the first sportscar since the McLaren F1 to be designed and produced by McLaren. The MP4-12C is made from carbon fibre and features a 3.8-litre V8 twin-turbo engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch.

The new supercar from the British grand prix team gives out a cool 592bhp with a top speed of 205mph and 0-62mph taking only 3.1sec. The supercar will set you back £168,500 in the United Kingdom and $229,000 for the US market. McLaren aims to build 1,000 this year and 1,500 annually after that.

McLaren have also announced that the MP4-12C will compete in the FIA GT3 European Championship and will begin racing in 2012 with the CRS Racing team.
