Kayne West who is best know as an American rapper has debuted his new women`s clothing range at the Paris Fashion Week. The new womens clothing line which is set to be released in spring/summer 2012 is called DW by Kayne West and was showcased to a host of A-list guests over the weekend. The fashion line is a collaboration between Kayne West, British designer Louise Goldin and Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. The collection featured black, white and neutral colours with all the models wearing shoes designed by Giuseppe Zanotti. The shoes all  featured identical gold nameplate necklaces which had the name “Yeezi” on them. The fashion runway debut from Kayne West attracted fashion designers Silvia Fendi and Alexander Wang, chief editor from Vogue Anna Wintour and celebrities Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Jared Leto and Lindsay Lohan. The womenswear fashion show was received with mixed to negative reviews.

This is not the first time the urban artist has been involved in fashion, in January 2009 West collaborated with Louis Vutton to introduce his first shoe line with was released in the summer 2009. Kayne West also collaborated with Nike to release his own trainers called Air Yeezys.

Comune is a streetwear and skate clothing brand that design some brilliantly graphic t-shirts. The Clean Clothes Campaign started in February to make all fashion designers, manufacturers and retailers to stop using sandblasting techiques. Sandblasting is a method to produce denim garments with an artificially worn look. The ban was implemented in Turkey in 2009 after evidence revealved that 46 former sandblasting workers had contracted silicosis. The disease is due to sandblasting ommiting large amounts of silica dust  which can lead to silicosis, a very dangerous disease. A number of well know retailers and manufacturers have elminated the proccess from their collections which include H&M, Levis, C&A, Gucci and Versace.

The campaign has started to work harder on changing the views of designers Roberto Cavalli,  Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana who have decided to not go ahead with the ban. Dolce and Gabbana have been especially singled out as when asked about the ban have said it does not interest them. The Clean clothes campaign will carry on with promoting the ban to the Italian fashion houses who refuse to stop sandblasting.
