With the summer here and people making their holiday arrangements it is now the best time to stock up on your summer clothing. Indie streetwear clothing brand Joystick Junkies was featured on Channel 4′s Tv show Dirty Sexy Things. The clothing brand hosted a fashion show at a London members club for press and buyers in March 2011 for thier new summer collection. The Channel 4 Tv show covered the event as they followed one of the girl models named Ocean who was a cast for the fashion show.

Dirty Sexy Things

Getting that indie rock look is all the rage at the moment and can be easily done. We recommend pairing up some blue denim skinny jeans with some dark brown boots with a graphic t-shirt. Any colour jeans will work and you can choose from a range of different colours and shades of boots. At present suede boots are a good choice but remember to get protector and a good cleaner to keep those boots in pristine condition.

The British indie rock band The Feeling have just released their third studio album entitled Together We Were Made. The English pop rock band was formed in 1995 and are from West Sussex and London. Their new album was released worldwide on the 28th of June and peaked at number 22 on the UK albums charts. The album comes in two editions with a standard edition and a double disk edition.

The second single from the new album is Leave Me Out Of It which features vocals for Sophie Ellis-Bextor and is set to be released in August 2011.

We are loving the new album and after their first two brilliant albums this carries on the trend with another successful release.

The Leeds indie rock brand Kaiser Chiefs have released their forth studio album The Future Is Medieval. The new album is a return after three years since their last album Off with Their Heads, released in October 2008. The Future is Medieval was recorded over 18 months at  various locations and a physical release was released on 27th June 2011.

The band was formed in 1997 in Leeds and took their name from the South African football club Kaizer Chiefs.

Bestival 2011 which is an annual music festival based on Isle of Wight will see the Icelandic singer Bjork close the festival on Sunday night. Dance king Pendulum will headline on Friday with indie band The Cure on Saturday. The annual music festival which was started by Rob Da Bank will be Bjork’s only outdoor festival apperance this year.

This year Bestival will also host performances from musical stars including Brian Wilson, PJ Harvey, Kelsi, Magnetic Man, The Maccabees, Primal Scream, Annie Mac and many more.

Bestival is an award-winning boutique festival taking place between 8 and 11 September.

No Doubt are set to release a new album this year after more than a decade since their last album Rock Steady in 2001. Since the last album Gwen Stefani has being releasing her own solo albums in 2004 and 2006. No Doubt was formed in 1986 and have released five albums to date.

The indie rock band’s new album was set to be released in 2008 but was delayed due to the birth of Gwen Stefani’s second child. The up coming untitled album was produced by British producer Mike Stent and is set to be released this year.

The US group have won two Grammy Awards and have sold more than 30 million records worldwide. At present the Billboard chart ranks No Doubt as the 89th best artist of the decade.

As a celebration to the start of Glastonbury music festival, Amazon.com are offering Glastonbury MP3 albums for a pound. Todays album is Dj Shadows Endtroducing which is available for a pound until midnight. Tomorrow is set to be Two Door Cinema Club’s indie LP album Tourist History for a pound until tomorrow midnight. They also have a range of other albums which are on special offer from the likes of Plan B, Chemical Brothers, Coldplay and The Streets.

The Interrupters is an indie documentary film that tells the story of three Violence Interrupters who try to help and protect their community in inner city Chicago gangland. The film is from acclaimed director Steve James and was shot over a course of a year in Chicago during a time of high profile violence. The story of the film came from bestselling author Alex Kotlowitz and the film features the work of organisation CeaseFire, an initiative of the Chicago Project for Violence Prevention. The aim of CeaseFire is to stop conflicts on the street before they break out into violence using the help of people who have credibility on the streets due to their own dealings in ganglife. The film follows three lifes Ameena, Cobe and Eddie as they go about their work through their journey of peace and redemption.

The Interrupters was awarded the Special Jury prize at the 2011 Sheffield Doc/Fest and is also early candidate for the 2011 Academy Award Nomination for Best Documentary film.

The film was also voted in a poll on Indie Wire, an International Independent Film website asked on their readers ”what buzz heavy 2011 film are you most excited to see? The film took a 36.2% in the votes.

The Cataracs are best known for producing number one hit Like a G6 , Wet from Snoop Dogg and Bass Down Low from singer Dev. The American hip hop indie pop duo have just released thier first single entiled Top of the World which features Dev. The new single is from their up coming fifth studio album which is untitled as of yet.

The Cataracs duo consist of David “Campa” Benjamin Singer-Vine and his life-partner Niles “Cyrano” Hollowell-Dhar they are songwriters, vocalists, and producers.

The new urban single is gonna be a big dance floor hit with the same bass and beats that they have been producing  successfully for other artists, the duo finally get the spotlight on them.

Ed Sheeran is a an indie urban artist from the UK , the song Little Lady is of his first album , No. 5 Collaborations Project.  In January 2011 Sheeran signed for Atlantic Records and is set to be releasing his first full album on the 19 September 2011, entitled +. The urban artist shot to fame after being viewed on You Tube and released three EPs in 2010. In January 2011 he released his final independent EP, No.5 Collaborations Project and his first single of the album will be A Team which will be released  on 12 June 2011.

Check out this Oxford shirt designed by UK indie streetwear brand Second Son. The brand which started in 2005 was formerly known as Loki before changing its name to Second Son. The streetwear clothing brand design smart formal clothing but with an urban twist.

The classic smart oxford shirt comes in a light blue colour but has a contrasting darker tone on the shoulder, chest pocket, cuff plackets and hem trim. It also has the second son‘s trademark purple buttons at the cuff, the pocket and the top. It also features thier logo on the pocket which is a lightning strike flag label.
